Fun With ILS Vendors
There has been a lot of fun with the ILS (Integrated Library Systems, just for you Mr. R) vendors recently. First there was Roy Tennant’s post, then Blyberg’s (which makes use of one of my very favorite nonwords), then Steven noticed that III has a Flickr account, and Nicole weighed in on that subject (along with some words from Michael Stephens).
I tried to leave a comment on Nicole’s blog, but I always get this weird error message, so I decided to write my comment here:
I work in an Innovative library and I have something to say to you Innovative. Lip service is not the same as service! Are you listening? Do you care?
–Jane, no more lip service
p.s. Please excuse the obvious overuse of parenthesis as sentence devices. (Though technically, I am not at all sorry.)

[...] As I read the thoughtful posts at Five Weeks to a Social Library, I can tell that the participants already know that just having a blog or a Flickr account doesn’t mean much (case in point, commentary on case in point, commentary on the commentary). It’s more about what you do with the tools, and if the tools represent a real commitment to helping your readers the best you can. [...]
Jane,
What error are you getting, email me and I’ll try to work with you - I don’t want you to think I don’t want your comments!!
I love your comment!!
[...] This has been kind of fun to read, kind of like a train wreck. You just have to keep reading. I feel like I’m reading TMZ.com! Yay! [...]
Thanks, Jane, for giving me a place to catch up on the issue with just a few clicks. Let us gently lead our POW into considering other systems…we’re in good positions to do so!
