I really enjoyed the post and was reminded of all the people, like Karen, who have helped me in the past few years.

I liked that she placed “famous” in quotes. Famous is a meaningless thing compared to our lives outside of the limelight. What really matters is how we live our whole lives, not just what we do at conferences, in front of audiences, and when people are looking. I love all the things I do as a librarian, but getting to lounge on the couch with these handsome boys is better then anything else I have ever gotten to do.

Karen also mentions Bette Davis, who played the best bitches on the silver screen. I am partial to her portrayal of Regina Giddens in The Little Foxes. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Davis, old movies, or good, old fashioned, evil women.

My favorite piece of advice from Karen’s post was to help others. I think, whether you pull weight or not, helping others is always important. There is always someone who could use your hand or a smile.

Pullo waits with Cassie

This morning I am packing and getting organized for a quick three day trip to San Antonio. Pullo thinks I have stayed home to play with him and is disappointed that all I have done so far is upload Flickr photos and laundry. Pullo does not like it when one of us is gone and I always picture him at the window, like this, waiting.

I am nervous about the preconference I am teaching on a few different levels. This will be the longest class I have taught, even though, my song and dance is just in the morning and someone else is teaching the afternoon portion.

I feel better then I have in days, even though I am woefully behind in everything. I am hoping that the couple days after TLA and before CIL will be enough for me to catch up. The next post should be a report from the field (unless I find time to do some reading). Everyone traveling to TLA, be safe.

I think I may have found the perfect job for my rocket scientist. Who knew that Jeff Bezos was running a company that built rockets. In my head I can only think how random it is.

Sniffing the Windy Sniffs

Thanks to some tornadoes in the area, I have the morning off. The rain has stopped but it is still very windy. Pullo and I have spent the morning cruising around online and going outside to inspect the sniffs on the wind. In the Rochester household, this is called sniffing the sniffs.

I love mornings at home. For the first time in weeks, I am all caught up with my feeds. I am a couple posts behind here, but I think that can be remedied shortly. I am starting to get all my things together for Internet Librarian. It will be my first time attending and I am very excited.

I hope everyone is enjoying their morning; my play time is almost over.

Today involved washing the puppy who was beginning to smell like a stinky dog and napping. Contrary to the appearances in this picture, he does not like to get baths, but he does like to attack the hose.

Today marked the beginning of something wonderful, the College Football Season. At the Rochester Estate, it has been nothing but football, football, football. The Aggies played a little rough, but pulled out a win. Hopefully, we will improve after this first showing. This season marks the first time since he was a college freshman, many, many years ago, that Mr. R has not had season tickets.

Gentle readers, this is what getting married causes, a lack of football enjoyment. Instead of standing for three plus hours in the heat, hung over, and screaming until you get darting pains in your head, you are entertained by washing the dog and listening to the game on the radio.

What has this world come to?

Here is what is in the tubes for the weekend, in no particular order:

• Finish the two library posts for this space that are hanging around as drafts.
• Write my next post for TechSource before Teresa realizes I am a crazy loon.
• Sit outside with a scotch, a petite cigar, a book, and my dog while the sun goes down.
• Find the floor of the study. (I have been threatened with death or eviction if I do not do this by the time Mr. R is back. I make piles. Sue me.)
• Find the floor of my closet. (see above)
• Go to Miranda and Micah’s wedding.
• Go to church. No sleeping in young lady!
• Make cookies and muffins for “Hi, I am your librarian” baskets for faculty.
• Write some thank you cards from my own wedding.

Of course, all of this is contingent upon the fact that my intentions not get stuck in the internet of tubes. Anyone have Drano on hand?

This wee puppy (wee meaning 55ish pounds) is five months old today. That little bit of tongue you see always sticks out of his mouth.

His hobbies include disembowling his stuffed horses, laying on the couch, eating dirt, and being ornery.

This is the reason why last night I got my first night of uninterrupted sleep since the 23rd of December. I am away from him in San Antonio. Poor baby. I hope his dad does not let him drink too much at the party tonight.
