In the spirit of Dogma, I give you….. The Fiberglass Christ. A fiberglass statue of the crucified Christ washed up on a bank of the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, TX on August 31st. Since its retrieval by border patrol agents (who thought it was a body), the statue has been sitting in the evidence room at the local police station. The police want to get rid of it because over 3,000 people have made pilgrimages to Eagle Pass to see and touch the statue, which is being hailed as a miracle. There are so many funny things I could say at this point; it really is futile to choose just one, so I will let you smile at the absurdity of it all with me.
The Houston Chronicle has the whole story here.
