Ok, I am a word geek and thus found Walt Crawford’s explanation of the difference between an acronym and an initialism fascinating. I can hear Mr. Rochester groaning from miles away as he reads this post. Of course, NASA, populated by engineers, comes up with a new acronym or initialism for everything.
Speaking of NASA, they have developed a very sophisticated wiki program, called World Wind Central, which allows users to manipulate satellite imagery. This is a wiki on drugs. Well, actually, I am not surprised that engineers would have to come up with the uber wiki. (Original link from Library Stuff)
