Technology, Who Needs It?

Apparently, not Michael Gorman. Geez does this man ever stop? A few words from our sponsors here, here, and here. I have recently had it up to here, hand indicates neck, with people who are supposed to be either progressive or tech savvy who have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Well, in nicer language, I believe them to be seriously misguided. I have come up against this attitude at MPOW too. It is deflating at times for someone who strives to remain optimistic and excited about the way we can use the force of technology for good. Listen to the force, young Skywalker. It helps to know that I am not alone in my feelings and I am looking forward to rubbing elbows with some forward thinkers at ALA.

Updated: And one more from It’s All Good because, ummm, its good.

I hate to be blunt, but it seems the man just refuses to shut up. When you think things cool down, he has to add fuel to the fire again. I did look at the “sponsors” you linked, and I particularly liked the Eclectic Librarian’s open letter to ALA on why she is not renewing her membership. Makes me want to fire off a letter as well.

My favorite snippet from those three posts:
“Go down Gorman, way down in Catalogland; tell old Pharoah, those old fields have got to go… ”
I can just imagine a choir of catalogers singing Michael off the stage at ALA. Thank jeebus I’m not going (perhaps ever again…).
