Would You Like to Talk Library With That Guinness?

I spent last night in the company of a handful of English graduate students. We talked about books, movies, and told funny stories involving men with kilts, the kinds of things you share over a pint of Guinness at an Irish pub. The library came up a couple of times and I convinced at least one person to bring their class to the library for an instruction session.

This interaction made me think of all the opportunities that we sometimes pass up by sitting at the reference desk and waiting for the classes/students to come to us. There are a few librarians who venture out of their buildings and I commend you for your effort. I hope that, in the future, I will be able to find new and different ways to interact with faculty and promote what I, personally, can do for them and for their students.
