After a particularly hectic reference shift, the last three events summed up the shift.
Event #1 – I manage to get someone hacked off at me.
Event #2 – I go to reboot a computer in the middle of logging on a profile by turning off the CPU and… then I watched in horror as I turned off the wrong computer! By the grace of God, the student was very nice and not at all bothered that I had turned off her unit. I felt like a flustered idiot. “I am so smart. S-M-R-T.”
Event #3 – I check the schedule to see who is coming to be punished next and realize I was not even on the schedule the last hour when all the above bedlam ensued. Great.
–Jane, otherwise, very productive day
Don’t feel too bad about shutting down the wrong computer. I did it too and that student was in the middle of a paper. Students are quite generous when you mess up I find. Very thankful for Word and autosave. Sorry that the desk provided such excitement especially since you weren’t even scheduled.
