The number one reason I love being a librarian occurred today. Just now.
I taught an open workshop on finding articles in the library and two of the attendees (staff at the University) had questions about how to scan multiple news sites for a particular person. “RSS Feeds!†I spent almost an hour with them, going over how to set up and aggregator, RSS feeds, ego feeds, tagging, flickr (they asked), del.icio.us (they asked again), and a few other tricks I thought would help them. It was awesome.
Basically I was able to blab for an hour about some of my favorite tools and they were begging for more. We finally had to stop so that their heads would not explode.
Now the reality of my over stuffed job is creeping up. Back to planning classes.
