Mark All As Read

My To Do list professionally has far exceeded the amount of hours in my day since about January. This has been causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. Some things had to fall behind, like spending my book money, planning new ideas for work, writing here and elsewhere, and reading my RSS feeds. I just finished “marking all as read” to almost my entire list of subscriptions. I only left items in two folders, mostly technology based, because I want to catch up with some of the technology news. I can do that during lunch.

Someone asked me in my preconference, and someone always does, how are they supposed to find time for all of these new things. I always say you make time. When it becomes too much, you unsubscribe, unplug, and refresh. You control your own information intake. Be a good consumer.

I’ve marked a few feeds as “essential” in Google Reader- when I get back from a trip, those are the only ones I read. The rest get marked as read.

I used to spend days and days trying to play catchup- that just doesn’t work well!
