Some of you may have already seen this interview on McSweeney’s about a bookshop in San Francisco that will organize its books by color for one week. I used to work in a bookstore and this gives a whole new dimension to the oft asked question, “I was in here last week, looking at a blue book. Can you help me find it?” No.
Premier Post
I will not state the obvious and say this is my first post, but it is. I intend for this blog to be a bit about everything that amuses and concerns me, but I will start off the old fashioned way with a little information about myself.
What I do and who I am: I am a 26 year-old librarian at a large university. I live in Houston, TX and we finally got our first cold front a couple of days ago. Egads! It’s down to a chilly 60 degrees. Seriously. But I digress.
What knocks my socks off: Books, movies, great weather, cold beer, and good company. I have a few favorites of each, but I will divulge them gradually. Suspense!
What I am reading this moment: Emma, by Jane Austen. It is the only one I have not read and I thought it was about time. I mean, it can not be Mr. Darcy all the time, you know.
The thing I am currently crazy about: Firefly – If you have not discovered this series yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. I can not say enough wonderful things about Firefly, but I have always thought that Joss Whedon was a genius.
That is enough for now. I will be playing with the settings for the first few days, so bear with the newbie. I have to get some actual work done today.
